Ahead of the new season, the Buffalo Bills have executed a sweeping roster change by officially releasing five key free agents. These moves, now finalized, signal the team’s strategic decision to refresh their lineup and cultivate new talent.

Among the players heading out is wide receiver Amari Cooper, whose impactful yet brief stint in Buffalo garnered attention. As the organization pivots toward nurturing younger prospects, Cooper’s future with the Bills is definitively over, setting him on a path to explore other opportunities.

Cornerback Rasul Douglas, who has provided consistent play in the secondary since joining in 2023, is another confirmed departure. Recognizing the need for a rejuvenated defensive backfield to support long-term plans, the team has decided that a new infusion of talent is necessary, making Douglas’s exit irrevocable.

Safety Damar Hamlin, known for his dependability and role as a key depth piece, is also no longer part of the defensive plans. His release is part of a broader strategy to modernize the defense in response to shifting challenges within the AFC.

Additionally, Mack Hollins—acquired on a one-year deal and quickly winning over fans with his energetic play—has been officially let go. Even veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, despite his steadfast “Bills or bust” stance, has seen his future with the team come to a conclusive end.

With these decisions firmly in place, the Bills are now focused on the free agency and draft processes, determined to assemble a roster capable of competing at the highest level in 2025.
