Carmen Larbalestier, the 69-year-old mother of Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton, collapsed unexpectedly on June 22, 2025, while staying in Montreal ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. Multiple sources confirm she was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition after collapsing in her hotel.

Just 55 minutes after the incident, a visibly distressed Hamilton addressed the media. Fighting back tears, he said, “I’ve never experienced anything like this. My mom has always been my biggest supporter. I’m asking everyone to please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She hasn’t regained consciousness, and we’re just holding on to hope right now.”

Paramedics arrived quickly at the scene, administering CPR before transporting Carmen to the hospital. While doctors have yet to issue a detailed diagnosis, they confirmed she remains unconscious and her condition is serious.

Following the news, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team immediately canceled all of Hamilton’s scheduled media duties for the day. Team boss Toto Wolff showed his support, saying, “Lewis is family. At this moment, our priority is entirely on being there for him and his mother. We’re all hoping and praying for her recovery.”

Messages of encouragement have poured in from across the globe, including one from Max Verstappen, who posted: “No race matters more than family. Thinking of you, Lewis. Stay strong.”

Carmen has long been known as a powerful presence in Hamilton’s life, often attending his races and cheering from the sidelines. Now, fans and the racing community worldwide are united in concern, hoping for positive news in the days ahead. Further updates are expected soon.
