BREAKING: Black Sabbath GUITARIST Tony Iommi Ex…read more.

Fans of legendary guitarist Tony Iommi have reason to get excited once again. The Black Sabbath icon has offered a long-awaited update on his solo album, reassuring the rock and metal world that the project is still alive  and inching closer to completion.

In a recent interview, Iommi revealed that he is actively working on his solo material, stating, “I’m trying to finish off what I started.” It’s a simple yet powerful declaration that has reignited interest in what could be the next major musical chapter in his storied career.

A Long Time Coming

Tony Iommi, known as the riff master behind Black Sabbath’s pioneering heavy metal sound, has teased fans for years about potential solo material. His only full solo album to date, “Iommi” (released in 2000), featured a host of guest vocalists including Dave Grohl, Billy Corgan, and Henry Rollins. It was a bold, experimental release that showcased Iommi’s unique approach outside of Sabbath.

Now, nearly 25 years later, he seems determined to follow it up.

“This new stuff has been in the works for a while,” Iommi explained. “But with everything going on  including the pandemic and various commitments  it’s taken longer than I’d hoped. Still, I’ve been in the studio, writing, recording, and slowly putting it all together.”

A Solo Project With a Collaborative Spirit

Iommi hasn’t yet revealed the full list of musicians involved in the album, but hinted that, like his first solo record, this one may also include some high-profile collaborators. “I’ve been speaking to a few people,” he said. “There’s interest from artists I admire, and I want this album to reflect different moods and voices.”

While he’s kept most details under wraps, he did mention that the project will lean into both classic heavy riffs and melodic arrangements  a sound that longtime fans will surely embrace.

The Legacy of Sabbath Still Echoes

Despite Black Sabbath formally calling it quits after their 2017 farewell tour, Iommi’s passion for music hasn’t dimmed. He’s contributed to various soundtracks, made surprise live appearances, and continued to explore musical ideas on his own terms. His most recent notable contribution was a guitar riff for the track “Degradation Rules” on Ozzy Osbourne’s 2022 album Patient Number 9 a song that marked the first time the pair recorded together in years.

“It was great working with Ozzy again, even just on one track,” Iommi noted. “There’s always a bit of that old spark.”

Though the world may never see another full-fledged Black Sabbath reunion, Iommi’s solo work serves as a continuation of the band’s legacy, filtered through his personal lens and musical evolution.

Health, Time, and Motivation

At 76, Iommi remains as sharp and inspired as ever, but he admits that time and health are constant considerations. After successfully battling lymphoma several years ago, he’s become more conscious about pacing himself and focusing on projects that truly matter to him.

“I’m not rushing it,” he emphasized. “I want it to be something I’m proud of  something worth the wait.”

What’s Next?

While no official release date has been announced, fans can expect more concrete updates later this year. According to Iommi, several tracks are close to completion, and others are in various stages of production.

“There’s still work to do, but I’m getting there,” he said. “I just want to make sure it’s right. It’s about quality, not speed.”

As the rock world awaits the return of one of metal’s most influential guitarists, Tony Iommi’s upcoming solo album stands as a reminder that true legends never stop creating  they just take their time to get it right.
