BREAKING: Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi Op…read more.

Legendary guitarist Tony Iommi has opened up about the recent Back to the Beginning concert, revealing that Black Sabbath could have performed more songs during the event. While the show was a momentous reunion for fans of the pioneering heavy metal band, Iommi admitted there was room for a more extended setlist  possibly six or seven songs  instead of the brief performance that was delivered.

Held in Birmingham, England, the band’s hometown, Back to the Beginning was a symbolic and emotional moment, especially for lead vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, who made a triumphant return to the stage after health challenges had sidelined him in recent years. The show brought together Osbourne, Iommi, and original drummer Bill Ward, sparking excitement and nostalgia among fans around the world.

However, the performance which featured only a couple of songs  left many fans craving more. In a recent interview, Iommi acknowledged this sentiment and hinted that the band had initially considered a longer set.

“We probably could have played six or seven songs,” Iommi said. “But we had to be mindful of Ozzy’s condition and the time we had. It was a special night, and while we kept it short, the energy and feeling were just incredible.”

Iommi’s comments shed light on the logistical and physical challenges that come with reuniting a band of Sabbath’s stature after years apart. Ozzy Osbourne, now 76, has been dealing with a range of health issues, including Parkinson’s disease and complications from spinal surgery. Still, his appearance at the event  seated on a gothic-style throne but full of emotion and gratitude  was a powerful symbol of resilience and dedication to fans.

While the concert may have been shorter than some hoped, the presence of the original members alone made it unforgettable. Songs like War Pigs and Paranoid rang through the venue, a reminder of the band’s thunderous legacy. Fans sang along with every word, and the atmosphere was one of reverence and joy.

Iommi, ever the voice of reason and reflection, said that the performance was never meant to be a full-scale reunion show, but rather a celebration of their beginnings and a tribute to their fans and city. “It was really about going back to where it all started, not necessarily doing a whole set like we used to,” he said.

Despite that, Iommi didn’t rule out future performances, leaving the door slightly ajar for more music or public appearances from the original lineup. “You never know,” he teased. “We still love what we do, and the crowd gave us so much energy that night. Anything’s possible.”

For now, fans will cherish the glimpse they got of the original Sabbath magic  even if it was just for a few songs. The night may have been brief, but its impact will echo for years to come.
