BREAKING: Los Angeles Lakers LeBron James leaves …read more.
LOS ANGELES Amid rumors about the future of LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers, his son Bronny James is staying humble and unbothered.
Speaking following a Summer League practice, Bronny said he’s not paying attention to media rumors. “A friend called me asking where I’m playing next year. I hadn’t even looked at the news,” he said. “There’s plenty of things out there that I just don’t worry about.”
Bronny, in his second year in the NBA, also indicated that he and his father have not discussed the matter much. “We don’t discuss it much. He just says don’t worry about it,” Bronny reported. “Just remain focused on my own things.”
LeBron, who is 40, exercised the $52.6 million player option for next year. His agent, Rich Paul, indicated LeBron is closely monitoring the Lakers’ summer and considering what is in his best interest at this point in his career.
The Lakers have made a bit of offseason signing, signing center Deandre Ayton and forward Jake LaRavia. Bronny appeared confident about the team’s direction. “Being on the roster, I think we’ll be back stronger than last year,” he commented.
While having a subdued first year as a rookie, during which he averaged only 2.3 points in spot duty, Bronny is set to expand his game in year two. In the midst of all the speculation regarding LeBron potentially leaving, Bronny is keeping his nose to the grindstone and working on himself.
Whether LeBron remains with the Lakers or not, Bronny is set to improve and make his own legacy in the league no matter what his father does next.
