Marking the end of a legendary chapter in music history, Tony Iommi has teamed up with British amp maker Laney to launch a rare, ultra-limited signature amplifier in celebration of Black Sabbath’s final concert. The release also brings back a long-discontinued fan favorite for the first time in over 13 years.
The newly revived amplifier pays homage to the iconic tones that helped shape the sound of heavy metal. Based on the classic GH100TI model, originally released in the late ’90s and last manufactured in 2011, the limited-edition amp retains its signature sonic power while featuring modern enhancements for today’s players.
Timed to align with the anniversary of Sabbath’s final performance in their hometown of Birmingham in 2017, the amp serves as both a collector’s gem and a serious piece of professional gear. Only a small number will be made, making it a rare find for musicians and fans alike.
Tony Iommi expressed excitement about the launch, saying, “Bringing this amp back is something I’ve wanted for a while. It was a big part of my sound, and I’m thrilled to see it return with Laney’s support even if it’s just for a limited run.”
Laney, whose relationship with Iommi spans decades, emphasized that while the amp stays true to the original in tone and feel, it has been updated with improved reliability and build quality.
More than just an amplifier, this release stands as a tribute to a band that helped define a genre, giving fans a chance to own a true piece of metal history.
