BREAKING: Nikola Jokic Reveals Desire for Nuggets to Improve After…

The Denver Nuggets’ season came to a crushing close on Sunday afternoon, as they were soundly defeated by the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, 125-93, in a decisive Game 7. Following the loss, star center and three-time MVP Nikola Jokic emphasized the need for improved bench depth, pointing to the success of the Thunder, Timberwolves, Pacers, and Knicks—all teams with strong, deep rotations—as a key factor in their postseason success.

“We definitely need more depth,” Jokic stated. “The teams that are winning—Indiana, OKC, Minnesota—all have longer rotations.”

Barring any major trades, Denver is expected to return largely the same roster for the 2025 season. Only DeAndre Jordan and Vlatko Cancar are set to become free agents, while Russell Westbrook ($3.4 million) and Dario Saric ($5.4 million) hold player options. The remainder of the core remains under contract.

Jokic, the franchise cornerstone, is effectively untouchable in trade talks. Jamal Murray, due $46 million next season, is also unlikely to be moved, as his on-court impact outweighs his hefty salary.

However, Michael Porter Jr., who will earn $38 million in 2025, could be Denver’s most tradable piece if the front office chooses to alter the team’s core while remaining competitive. Aaron Gordon, set to make $22 million, is viewed as too valuable relative to his contract to be part of any trade considerations.

With a core intact but depth in question, the Nuggets head into the offseason needing to address their supporting cast to stay in the championship hunt.
