Jon Bon Jovi Takes Inspiration from Metallica’s M72 Tour for 2026 Bon Jovi Shows

Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi has revealed that he’s drawing inspiration from Metallica’s successful M72 World Tour as he plans Bon Jovi’s 2026 global tour. Speaking in a recent interview with Planet Rock, the frontman explained how Metallica’s “No Repeat Weekend” concept encouraged him to rethink how Bon Jovi will approach live performances next year.

Metallica’s M72 tour introduced a fresh format  performing two nights in the same city with completely different setlists each evening. That idea, Jon said, sparked something in him after a conversation with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

“I asked Lars, ‘If you only do Master of Puppets on one night and One on another, don’t fans get upset they missed it?’ And he said, ‘No. We’ve got enough songs that everyone goes home happy.’ And that’s when it clicked,” Bon Jovi explained.

Jon Bon Jovi said he won’t be copying the format exactly, but he sees potential in tailoring multiple shows per city to showcase the band’s long catalog of hits. “I have enough songs and enough hits that I could easily do two completely different shows,” he added. “It’s exciting  I’m having fun building ideas for what these concerts could look like.”

The 2026 tour  which follows the release of Bon Jovi’s latest album Forever will mark a major return to the stage for the singer after his recovery from vocal surgery. The tour is expected to feature both classic favorites and new material from the band’s recent projects.

Jon noted that his focus has been on rebuilding stamina and refining the band’s sound ahead of the tour. “The one thing I’m in control of is the setlist,” he said. “Right now, I’m putting in two hours a day, four days a week, rehearsing like we’re already on the road.”

While Bon Jovi has previously performed full albums in special shows, this would be the first time fans could experience multiple distinct sets on a single tour. The idea is to make every night feel unique  giving fans a reason to attend more than one show and ensuring each concert stands out on its own.

For long-time fans, this new approach could mean hearing deep cuts from albums such as Keep the Faith, New Jersey, or Crush, alongside timeless anthems like Livin’ on a Prayer and It’s My Life.

“I’m digging the concept,” Jon concluded. “It’s about keeping it fresh for the fans and for us.”

With his renewed energy and creative spark, Jon Bon Jovi’s 2026 tour could become one of the most dynamic live rock experiences in years showing that after four decades, the band still finds new ways to surprise their audience.
