Ferrari F1 Star Demands Investigation to Uncover McLaren Secrets
June 25, 2025 – London – A high-profile Ferrari driver has called for a full FIA investigation amid claims that McLaren may still be exploiting prohibited “flexi-wing” technology. Red Bull’s technical director Pierre Wache recently submitted formal concerns to the FIA, alleging both McLaren and Ferrari are using rear wing deflection to mimic a mini-DRS effect for unfair straight-line speed gains .
McLaren responded swiftly in testing, tweaking its 2024 wing design and registering no immediate penalties—however, footage captured at the Bahrain test indicated more flex than expected, reigniting suspicions . In response, the FIA has installed cameras on all ten teams’ rear wings and introduced stricter load tests since Australia and China, expanding checks to front-wing flex by mid-season .
Ferrari’s star driver has now publicly demanded the FIA “dig deep” at McLaren’s Woking factory, urging factory inspections to determine whether technical directives have been fully implemented. The driver emphasized that without enforcement, the sport’s integrity is at risk, saying, “If wing flex isn’t addressed, it undermines fair competition.”
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella dismissed the allegations as “defocused noise,” pointing to five wins in the first six races and a clean FIA inspection at Imola . He insisted the team is firmly within regulations and hopes rivals will focus on their own development.
With constructors’ standings tight and McLaren currently leading, this raw standoff signals a contentious mid-season showdown. As the FIA gears up for factory audits and tighter on-track inspections, the outcome could define the competitive balance of the 2025 season.
