In a major development for the Kentucky Wildcats, head coach Mark Pope has officially announced that standout guard Otega Oweh will return to the team for the 2025–26 season. Oweh had initially entered the NBA Draft but later withdrew his name just before the final deadline, choosing instead to complete his senior year at Kentucky.

Oweh was a key player last season, leading the team with an average of 16.2 points per game, while also contributing 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.6 steals. His impressive performance earned him a spot on the All-SEC Second Team. Coach Pope has high hopes for him, even suggesting that Oweh could be a top contender for SEC Player of the Year.

With Oweh back, Kentucky’s lineup looks especially strong heading into the new season. The team has also added important transfers like Jaland Lowe and Jayden Quaintance, helping them climb to No. 7 in Sports Illustrated’s preseason rankings. Many are now tipping the Wildcats for a potential Final Four appearance.

Oweh has set his sights on improving his outside shooting this offseason, aiming to become a more well-rounded and dangerous player on the court. His decision to return, along with his commitment to growth, reflects his determination to lead Kentucky to championship contention.
