BREAKING: Top NBA team in lead for the potential deal of $207 Million Nuggets Forward as Denver explores…

The Los Angeles Lakers are emerging as a serious contender to acquire Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. if Denver opts to make roster changes this offseason. Betting odds from Bovada currently place the Golden State Warriors as favorites to land Porter at +300, with the Chicago Bulls at +400 and the Lakers close behind at +600. Other teams reportedly interested include the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Clippers, Trail Blazers, Suns, and Raptors.

Trade rumors surrounding Porter have intensified following the Nuggets’ elimination in the second round of the playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Porter, who struggled in the postseason while managing a left shoulder injury, averaged only 7.4 points per game on poor shooting splits—32.3% from the field and 25% from three. This was a sharp contrast to his regular season, where he posted 18.2 points on 50.4% shooting and 39.5% from beyond the arc. Despite the slump, Porter’s offensive upside and floor spacing make him an intriguing fit alongside LeBron James and Luka Dončić.

However, Porter’s remaining contract—$79 million over the next two years—poses a financial challenge. The Lakers, with nearly $70 million in expiring contracts and trade assets like a 2031 first-round pick, could build a viable trade package. Rui Hachimura is one potential trade piece, while Austin Reaves may also draw interest. Though Reaves is not deemed untouchable, the Lakers are reportedly only willing to include him in a deal for a top-tier center. Reaves is expected to test free agency in 2026 and could command over $40 million per year.

While Porter’s scoring could boost the Lakers’ offense, concerns about his defense and hefty salary complicate the pursuit. The Lakers remain focused on improving their frontcourt, but Porter remains a compelling option.
