Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope is making bold strides in assembling a powerhouse roster for the 2025-26 season. His latest move involves the official signing of Croatian standout Andrija Jelavić, a highly-touted prospect who brings both size and skill to the Wildcats’ frontcourt.
The 6-foot-11 forward, with a wingspan of 7-foot-2, played last season with KK Mega Superbet in the Adriatic League. Jelavić made a strong impression, averaging 11.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He notched six double-doubles throughout the season and showcased his potential with a dominant 23-point, 14-rebound performance against KK Partizan.
In addition to his club success, Jelavić represented Croatia at the U18 European Championship, where he averaged a double-double over seven games. His international experience and ability to perform under pressure make him a valuable asset to Kentucky’s lineup.
Jelavić becomes the 21st international player in the history of Kentucky basketball and only the second Croatian to join the program, following Zvonimir Ivisic. Coach Pope expressed excitement over Jelavić’s addition, emphasizing his combination of size, athleticism, and development through one of Europe’s most respected youth systems.
Jelavić, in turn, voiced his enthusiasm about joining one of college basketball’s most storied programs, saying he’s ready to contribute and grow under Pope’s leadership.
This signing reflects Pope’s broader strategy of blending international talent with domestic recruits to elevate Kentucky’s competitiveness. As the new head coach continues shaping the roster, expectations are rising for a strong run in the upcoming season.
