Official Commitment Announcement: Travis Perry commits to Ole….

Kentucky guard Travis Perry has committed to Ole Miss for the 2025-26 season, choosing to remain in the SEC after entering the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining. Perry, a 6-foot-1 guard from Eddyville’s Lyon County and Kentucky’s all-time high school scoring leader with 5,841 points, played one season at Kentucky under coach Mark Pope. During his freshman year, he appeared in 31 games with four starts, averaging 2.7 points and shooting 31.3% from the field and 32.1% from three-point range.

Perry’s decision to transfer comes amid a crowded Kentucky backcourt, with new additions limiting his playing time prospects. Ole Miss, coached by Chris Beard, had heavily recruited Perry out of high school and successfully secured his commitment this offseason. Other schools such as Alabama, Cincinnati, and Western Kentucky also showed interest, but Perry felt Ole Miss was the best fit, offering ample playing time and a chance to develop further, especially on defense.

Coach Beard praised Perry’s passion for basketball and his strong work ethic, highlighting the relationship built during the initial recruitment. Perry’s arrival marks another significant addition for Ole Miss as they continue to rebuild their roster via the transfer portal. Kentucky fans will see Perry return to Rupp Arena next season, now as a Rebel, adding an intriguing storyline to SEC basketball matchups.

This move underscores the shifting landscape of college basketball, where transfers play a growing role in team construction and player development.
