Daniel Ricciardo has stepped forward with a potential solution to Red Bull’s growing dilemma regarding rising star Liam Lawson. Lawson, who has impressed with his performances as a stand-in driver for AlphaTauri, is widely regarded as a talent with immense potential. However, with AlphaTauri’s driver lineup for next season already set, Red Bull faces a tricky situation in determining Lawson’s future role.
Ricciardo, who recently returned to the grid after recovering from a hand injury, suggested that Red Bull explore options to keep Lawson engaged and race-ready. He emphasized the importance of not letting Lawson’s talent stagnate. “Liam has shown he can handle the pressure of Formula 1, and it would be a shame to see him sidelined without any racing opportunity,” Ricciardo commented during an interview.
Lawson’s standout performances, including scoring points and outshining some regular drivers, have fueled debates over whether Red Bull should reconsider its AlphaTauri lineup. Some believe Lawson deserves a full-time seat, but with Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda already confirmed, options remain limited.
Ricciardo hinted that Red Bull could consider placing Lawson in other racing series or keeping him involved as a reserve driver with ample track time. “There are ways to stay sharp outside of F1, but Red Bull has to make sure he doesn’t disappear from the scene,” he added.
For now, the ball is in Red Bull’s court as they decide how best to manage one of their most promising young talents.
