Coldplay Chaos: Coldplay fans vent about hassle over…
Coldplay fans in Hong Kong are expressing frustration over ticketing issues for the band’s upcoming concerts in April 2025. Tickets for the three shows at Kai Tak Stadium sold out rapidly during various sales phases, leading to widespread disappointment among fans.
During the artist presale on October 7, 2024, tickets were reportedly sold out within minutes. Fans attempting to purchase tickets through the official platform, Cityline, encountered long virtual queues and technical difficulties. Some reported being unable to select tickets even after gaining access.
Following the swift sellout, tickets began appearing on resale platforms such as Carousell and Viagogo at significantly inflated prices. For instance, tickets originally priced at HK$999 were listed for HK$3,000, and standing tickets priced at HK$1,399 were being resold for HK$7,000. Some resellers listed tickets at HK$0 or the original price, asking potential buyers to submit offers, effectively auctioning the tickets to the highest bidder.
Fans took to social media to voice their frustration. One user questioned the purpose of waiting in a 40-minute queue only to be unable to purchase tickets, while another suggested that most tickets were bought by people using bots.
In response to the resale issue, platforms like Carousell have stated they are removing listings that violate their policies on ticket reselling. They urged the community to remain vigilant when purchasing tickets and encouraged users to report such listings for review.
Despite the challenges, some fans were able to secure tickets through alternative means. On October 8, 2024, travel website Klook offered special packages that included concert tickets and hotel stays. These packages sold out within minutes, indicating the high demand for the event.
As the concert dates approach, fans continue to hope for additional measures to address ticket availability and curb scalping practices.
