Lewis Hamilton has weighed in on Ferrari’s unexpected downturn in performance at the Chinese Grand Prix, expressing surprise at the Italian team’s struggles. Ferrari, known for its competitive edge, seemed off pace throughout the weekend, leaving fans and analysts wondering what went wrong.
Despite starting the season with high hopes, Ferrari’s performance in China fell short of expectations. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz struggled to keep up with their rivals, particularly Mercedes and Red Bull, who showed superior speed and race pace. Ferrari’s lack of straight-line speed and poor tire management further worsened their situation.
Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, expressed his shock at Ferrari’s decline, stating that he had anticipated a stronger challenge from the Scuderia. “It’s surprising to see them drop off like that. Ferrari has always been quick, especially on circuits like this. Something’s clearly not working as expected,” he said during a post-race interview.
Analysts suggest that Ferrari might be struggling with car setup issues or aerodynamic inefficiencies. However, team principal Fred Vasseur remained optimistic, emphasizing that the team is working hard to identify and address the problems.
While Ferrari fans are growing increasingly concerned, Hamilton noted that it’s still early in the season. “There’s time for them to bounce back. F1 is unpredictable, and things can change quickly,” he added.
As the championship battle continues, all eyes will be on Ferrari to see if they can recover their form in the upcoming races.
