A staggering $750,000 donation has brought new hope to the track and field community, thanks to the generosity of philanthropists Mark and Sarah Whitman. The couple, widely known for their charitable work, announced the contribution during a special ceremony on Saturday, where they revealed the heartwarming reason behind their commitment to the sport.

The Whitmans shared that their son, James, who tragically passed away in 2021 due to a rare illness, had been a passionate track and field athlete. His love for running and competing left a lasting impact on their family, inspiring them to give back to the sport that had brought him so much joy. “This is our way of honoring James and helping young athletes chase their dreams,” Sarah Whitman said, her voice filled with emotion.

The funds will be used to upgrade training facilities, provide scholarships, and support underfunded track and field programs in schools across the country. Officials have praised the donation, calling it a lifeline for struggling athletes and coaches.

“This generous gift will help level the playing field,” said David Reynolds, president of the National Track and Field Association. “It will give talented athletes, regardless of their background, the resources they need to succeed.”

For the Whitmans, the donation is not just about financial aid but about keeping their son’s legacy alive. “James believed in perseverance, teamwork, and the power of sports to change lives,” Mark Whitman explained. “We hope this helps carry his spirit forward.”
