Mick Schumacher has addressed speculation linking him to a potential Formula 1 seat with the Cadillac-backed Andretti team following confirmation of their official entry into the sport. Currently serving as a reserve driver for Mercedes, Schumacher is frequently mentioned as a candidate for a return to the F1 grid.

After receiving FIA approval, Cadillac and Andretti have been working toward their planned 2026 debut, despite resistance from existing teams. As the project progresses, discussions about their driver lineup have intensified, with Schumacher emerging as a strong contender due to his experience and popularity.

When questioned about the rumors, Schumacher expressed his desire to return to F1 but avoided confirming any specific plans. “I am always evaluating opportunities, and Formula 1 remains my ultimate goal,” he said. “At the moment, I am committed to my role with Mercedes, but I am open to future possibilities.”

Schumacher previously raced for Haas in 2021 and 2022 before losing his seat. Since then, he has taken on a reserve role at Mercedes and competed in endurance racing. A move to Cadillac F1 could provide a fresh start, especially with the support of a major manufacturer like General Motors.

Although no decisions have been announced, Schumacher remains a key figure in Cadillac’s driver discussions. With the team’s entry officially secured, more updates on their lineup are expected in the coming months.
