F1 NEWS:Toto Wolff’s promise to Lew….Read more
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has reassured Lewis Hamilton that the team is not looking to sign Max Verstappen, despite ongoing speculation about the Dutchman’s future. With Hamilton set to leave Mercedes for Ferrari in 2025, rumors have surfaced about whether Verstappen could make a surprise switch to Mercedes.
Verstappen, who has dominated Formula 1 in recent seasons with Red Bull, is reportedly unsettled due to internal tensions within his current team. This has fueled speculation that Mercedes could attempt to lure him away. However, Wolff has made it clear to Hamilton that there are no active plans to bring Verstappen in while the seven-time world champion is still with the team.
“We are focused on the present, and our priority is to give Lewis the best possible car in his final season with us,” Wolff stated. “Speculation is part of the sport, but there’s no decision on Verstappen.”
Hamilton, who has been with Mercedes since 2013, remains committed to finishing his tenure on a strong note before moving to Ferrari. While Mercedes will need a top-tier replacement, Wolff’s comments suggest that Verstappen is not an immediate target.
With the 2025 driver market shaping up to be one of the most dramatic in years, fans will be watching closely to see if Verstappen’s name eventually enters the conversation. For now, Wolff’s words provide some clarity, but in Formula 1, surprises are never far away.
