Red Bull Racing’s advisor, Dr. Helmut Marko, has once again taken aim at Lewis Hamilton, offering mixed praise and criticism as the seven-time world champion prepares to join Ferrari in 2025.

In a recent interview, Marko warned against underestimating Hamilton, suggesting that if the British driver is fully motivated, he could return to his peak performance levels from 2021. However, he also pointed out a perceived decline in Hamilton’s qualifying speed, particularly when compared to younger rivals. Marko suggested that if Hamilton struggles against Charles Leclerc in qualifying, it could put him at a disadvantage on race days.

Marko remains confident that Red Bull and Max Verstappen will continue to dominate, regardless of Hamilton’s move. He even suggested that Verstappen could still outperform Hamilton, even if Red Bull were to produce a “mediocre” car. This comment reinforces the belief within Red Bull that Verstappen’s talent is unmatched and that Hamilton’s transition to Ferrari may not pose a significant threat to their dominance.

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has been one of the most talked-about shifts in recent F1 history, sparking debates about whether he can bring the Italian team back to championship glory. However, Marko’s comments reflect Red Bull’s skepticism, as they believe their current package—led by Verstappen—remains the strongest on the grid.

The rivalry between Red Bull and Hamilton is far from over, and Marko’s latest remarks only add more fuel to the fire.
